Dr Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar, a 1982 batch AP Cadre IAS officer, took charge as the new Director-General of the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) here on Monday, August 19, 2024.
Dr. Ramesh Kumar had a distinguished career as a civil servant spanning 34 years, during which he held many senior positions with distinction. Among other roles, he served the renowned Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanams (TTD) as Joint Executive Officer and later as Executive Officer. He also served as Commissioner of Commercial Taxes, Principal Secretary of the Agriculture & Cooperation, Marketing, and Housing Departments, and was Secretary of Finance from 2006 to 2009.
Dr. Ramesh Kumar was Principal Secretary and later Special Chief Secretary to the Governor of Andhra Pradesh & Telangana from 2009 to 2016, during a crucial period when the State of Andhra Pradesh was bifurcated.
Post-retirement, he served as the State Election Commissioner of the newly formed state of Andhra Pradesh from 2016 to 2021.
Dr. Ramesh Kumar holds a Post Graduate degree in Economics, a Ph.D in Economics, and a degree in Law.
Dr. Ramesh Kumar was a Member of the Court of Governors of ASCI.
