Dr. Satyanarayana V. Nandury
obtained PhD in Computer Science & Engineering from llT Kharagpur, and MBA
from XLRI, Jamshedpur. Presently, he is working as Adviser, Administrative
Staff College of India, Hyderabad. He worked for 13 years at CSIR-Indian
Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) for more than 13 years till his
superannuation in October 2021. He worked for close to 20 years in
CSIR-National Metallurgical Laboratory (CSIR-NML), Jamshedpur, before joining
CSIR-IICT in 2008.At CSIR-NML he was heading the Super Computer Facility for
Process Simulation, Modelling & Automation, which he established for Blast
furnace modelling studies. The real-time process simulators developed by him
and his group at CSIR-NML were successfully commissioned in Iron & steel
and Ferroalloy industries like Tata Steel, Bokoro Steel Plant, Nav Bharat
Ventures etc. One of the technologies developed by his group in material
characterization at CSIR-NML, has received the CSIR Best Technology and Dr.
Altekar Best Technology awards in 2009.At CSIR-IICT, Dr. Satyanarayana, was heading
the Department of Energy & Environment. Under his leadership, the
Department was earning about 30 to 35 % of the total revenues earned by
CSIR-IICT. In association with his Departmental colleagues, he coordinated and
lead several industry and government sponsored projects related to clean coal
technologies and waste valorisation technologies worth over Rs. 15-20 Cr.
annum. In 2021 the technology “Anearobic Gas-lift Reactor for Bio-methanation of Organic
Waste” developed by one of his Group scientists received the CSIR
Best Technology Award 2021: Certificate of Merit.During his tenure at CSIR-IICT, Dr.
Satyanarayana mentored the Business Development Group for close to four years
(2017-21). The Business Development strategies and the road map prepared by him
helped the Institute to double its industry earnings in three years’ time
during 2017-20.Dr. Satyanarayana is a member of several committees of CSIR, CII,
DIPP, Nanotechnology Mission, DST, Central Paper & Pulp Research Institute,
MSME Development Institute, Ministry of Electronics & Information
Technology *MiETy), DST-KIRAN, DST-INSPIRE, etc. He was actively involved in
the preparation of several technical reports for these bodies.For over 10 years Dr. Satyanarayana has been working towards
nurturing start-ups and incubation centers. He served as the Secretary of the
Society for Biotechnology Incubation Centre (an incubation centre established
by the Department of BioTechnology) for over 8 years. During this period, he
established the Advanced Analytical & Characterization Resource Facility
for the biotech industry in Genome Valley, Hyderabad.Dr. Satyanarayana was actively involved in academic activities
of AcSIR, a University created by CSIR through an act of parliament activities,
during its inception stage and played a key role in preparing the draft
documents and policy guidelines for AcSIR. He is a professor in two faculties
viz. i) Engineering Sciences and ii) Mathematical & Information Sciences,
of AcSIR.Dr. Satyanarayana participated in the Indian Scientific
Expedition team to Antarctica in 1997, to commission the computer interface
gadgets designed & developed by him to automate the upper atmosphere
studies. He is a visiting faculty to several institutions like ASCI, ESCI,
NITs, etc. He is also an advisor to few educational Institutes.Four of Dr. Satyanarayana’s research publications
received best paper awards. His present
area of research includes Wireless sensor networks, IoTs, Bigdata analytics,
smart cities and development of sustainable technologies for Energy &
