Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, VSM
Commandant, Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad

Lieutenant General Neeraj Varshney, VSM is a senior officer of the Indian Army’s Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering, commissioned in 1986. An alumnus of the National Defence Academy and Defence Services Staff College, he has also completed the Higher Command Course and the Advanced Programme in Public Policy & Administration. He holds five master’s degrees in Finance, Technology, Strategic Management, Defence Studies, and Social Sciences.

Over a distinguished career spanning 39 years, General Varshney has held diverse regimental, staff, instructional, and strategic appointments. These include commanding a unit in 15 Corps during the Kargil War, serving as Faculty Member at the Army War College, and acting as Brigadier-in-Charge, Space & Technical Intelligence at Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff.

He is a frequent speaker on strategic and defence topics at premier institutions such as the College of Defence Management, Military Institute of Technology, Army and Naval War Colleges, Gati Shakti University, NIT Surathkal, and the CPWD Academy. He has also represented India in high-level defence delegations worldwide.

In his current role as Commandant of MCEME, Secunderabad, General Varshney leads the training of officers and personnel in the sustenance and operational readiness of the Indian Army’s weapon platforms.
