Background
The outburst of COVID-19 is no doubt a health and humanitarian crisis. As of 20th May 2020, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India (GoI) has confirmed a total of 61,149 positive cases, 42,297 recoveries and 3,303 deaths in the country. Since mid-March, GoI has tried several strategies to deal with the pandemic such as lockdown of all the activities in the country except those that are essential; followed by partial relaxation with travel and entry restricts, screening of citizens, closedown and curfews during nights, and so on. However, the country could not fully eliminate the novel Corona virus.
An effective approach to deal with this problem is to strengthen the Public Service Supply Chain system. According to a global report, awareness of the concept of Supply Chain Management is low in India. Our logistics networks are not properly equipped to optimally handle the supply of essential commodities in crises situations. Inefficiencies at the State/UT level in handling the Public Services Supply Chains is adding to this problem.
As we are realizing that it may become inevitable to live with the pandemic, at least till we develop a vaccine and make it affordable to the citizens, managing the Supply Chains of Public Service delivery is gaining significance. The two webinars and the two online courses that follow the webinar are designed to serve these purposes.
Learning Objectives
- To enhance the participants' understanding of concepts of managing Public Service delivery with a Supply Chain perspective
- To strengthen the efforts of stakeholders implementing Public Service Supply Chain
- To contribute to the knowledge bank of COVID Warriors and thence to the well-being of Indians
