Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) has been an institution of choice across governments, multilateral agencies, private and public sector to entrust research and consultancy projects. Yet another testimony to the proficiency and capability of ASCI is a project titled 'Capacity Building Initiative in the Competition Area under Trade Development Programme in India' sponsored by the Delegation of the European Union. A series of programmes have been undertaken as part of the project, which commenced in August 2013 and will conclude in September 2017.

ASCI, as the lead partner of a Consortium, has been working closely with other two partners- National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore and Scuola Nazionale dell Amministrazione (SNA), Italy. The specific objective of the 50-monthProject is to enhance the capacity of Indian stakeholders, in particular the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) and the Competition Commission of India (CCI) in relation to competition issues.

The major stakeholder identified is the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA). As a part of the project, a cluster of activities comprising capacity building for IICA, CCI and a few other stakeholders including the government and industry are being conducted. These activities constitute training programmes, workshops, seminars, research studies and other similar activities.

Till October 2016, eight capacity building activities were completed under the project. ASCI and NLSIU are also engaged in three research studies in collaboration with IICA. In addition, two research studies have been outsourced to external experts by ASCI.
