The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC), in association with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) and Kakatiya Institute of Technology and Science (KITS), has launched the Si3 (Sanitation - Innovate, Incubate, Initiate)challenge for students and recent graduates as a part of Swachh Warangal Mission. The challenge encourages students from all over the country to share proposals and designs to improve sanitation process in Warangal, a historical town in Telangana, famous for its ancient architecture and rich cultural heritage and get recognised and win cash prizes. 

According to, Prof.V.Srinivas Chary, Director - Centre for Urban Governance, Infrastructure Development, Environment and Energy, at ASCI, students or recent graduates (up to 2 years) are invited to submit a disruptive idea to contribute to making Warangal Swachh and Smart. From reducing open defecation to improving toilet design, from fecal sludge transport to its treatment and disposal, from effective behavioural change campaigns to ensuring community engagement and from recording data for waste water quality to developing new monitoring systems, you could choose where you wish to create impact by providing practical solutions to these pressing problems. 

Participants can employ technological solutions or design a game or engineer a product or innovate on existing technologies to find a solution to the sanitation problem - the possibilities are endless. Think out of the box! Sustainable, feasible, scalable and human - centered proposals that have the potential for making a real difference are encouraged.

Top idea can win prize worth Rs 1 Lakh, receive mentorship from the best minds in the country, implementation support and opportunity to showcase their idea on a global platform. There are two more attractive prizes.

Important Dates

To participate, each team or individual applicant must register and then fill out an online form where the teams will have to submit their disruptive sanitation solutions.

  1. November 15th, 2016: Submission of preliminary ideas online.  During this first stage of the competition, ideas may only be submitted via the format provided.
  2. December 18th, 2016: Those shortlisted will submit a detailed final proposal. There are no restrictions on the type of media that may be used for the second round submissions. The participants with the most creative, innovative and research-backed proposals will be invited to present at the final conference in Warangal
  3. January 14th, 2017: Final Conference and Award Ceremony.
